Rockacryl SH-597

Rockacryl HS-597 makes an excellent admixture for mortar used in patching, topping and leveling. Mix three volumes of silica sand with one volume of portland cement. Rockacryl HS-597 should be added in amounts that provides 4.5 % polymer solids based on cement weight. 8 kg . Of Rockacryl HS-597 diluted with 8 kg . Of water per ( 50 kg ) sake of cement will achieve the recommended proportion. Rockacryl HS-597 can be added directly to the dry mortar mix. Additional water may be added to the mortar to produce a more fluid mix. Keep in mind that the addition of Rockacryl HS-597 reduces the overall amount of water needed to achieve a given consistency. A low slump mixture is best for topping and patching. Prepare a higher mix for filing cracks. For horizontal surfaces, a bond coat of Rockacryl HS-597 is desirable as a primer. However, on vertical and overhead surfaces, the wet bond coat may act as a lubricant and cause the patch to slide off. Rockacryl HS-597 makes an effective topping, patching and sacking mortar that is ideally suited for very thin applications from feather edge to ½ inch (13 min) improved hydration of the cement plus the strengthening properties of the acrylic polymer allow thin applications without failure due to moisture loss.  It is excellent for concrete sacking and leaves a smooth, durable surface. Rockacryl HS-597 patches and top goings up to 2 in . (51mm) thick provide excellent adhesion, strength and chemical resistance. Thichertoppings may be applied, but provide little additional benefit.

َApplication & Recommendation

Use as a bonding agent

Carefully prepare the surface 10 be bonded. Blasting with a high pressure water jet is usually all that is necessary to clean the surface. Concrete contaminated with grease. Oil. Or other material that would prevent adhesion should be scrubbed with a solution of trisodium phosphate. An alternative method is to clean the concrete with a 10% acid solution followed by a thorough water resins. Sandblasing may be required for contaminated surfaces. Immediatedly prior to application. Mix Rockacryl HS-597 thoroughly to properly distribute the active ingredients. To bond fresh concrete, apply a thin coat of full strength Rockacryl HS-597 to the substrate. Use a brush, roller, had sprayer or power sprayer to spreed Rockacryl HS-597 at a rate of 200 to 250 square feet per gallon (5 to 6 m/liter). The surface should be damp but free of standing water. If the surface is dry, it is best to damoen the substrate with a light fog spray prior to application. This allows the bond coat to spread on the surface. Wait a minimum of 40 minutes before pouring fresh concrete over the bonding layer. Important – film must be dry to touch (not tacky) before application of fresh concrete. A longer waiting period will not degrade the bond strength. Excellent results are obtained up to two weeks after the Rockacryl HS-597 application that is ideally suited for very thin. The minimum recommended application temperature is 50 º f (10). Temperature must remain at or above 50 f (1o )for at least  eight hours and preferably 24 hours after  application of Rockacryl HS-597. Al\mys stir Rockacryl HS-597 thoroughly prior to use. The product can be used after freezing and is stable to five freeze/ cycles. If frozen, allow the material to rise slowly to room temperature and stir occasionally chemical resistance. Thicker toppings may be applied. But provide little additional benefit.
